*18+ Review* M-Day by D.T. Dyllin

This author is dear to me in the sense that she was the one to introduce me to New Adult
before New Adult was really something that people swarmed to!! That and her had DRAGONS...
FREAKING DRAGONS!! The P.J. Stone trilogy is still one of my favorite trilogies but everything
I have read, written by Dara has become a quick addiction... No matter the content.

Before the day… before M-day… people used to read books and watch movies about zombies. They used to dress up as zombies; pretend to kill zombies… Basically, zombies had become a part of popular culture in a very unexpected way.

The highly anticipated zombie apocalypse never came.

What did come was much worse than any city over run with shambling corpses after brains and flesh. A virus… a virus that only affected men. Nobody knew what caused it, or where it had come from, not that it really mattered. It's here and there’s no going back.

Maxine was one of the lucky ones--she got out alive. She and her friends banded together to survive the new desolate conditions left behind by the virus. When a supply gathering mission goes awry, Max and company are left with no better choice than to trust a group of uninfected military men. No longer on the run from her infected husband, Max discovers there could be worse dangers for her on the horizon… Like losing her heart to her mysterious savior everyone calls Zee.

Not for prudes and hot as hell.

Dara introduced me to NA long before people had even begun to categorize it as such.  Though M-Day is what I would consider Adult not NA, it was every bit the hard core Dyllin style I have come to expect.  Actually it was a little more gritty than I had expected, but honestly expecting something light and fluffy from a book where all the men basically go caveman/jackrabbit... Well that would just not be very smart now would it.  What I am trying to say is that it was addictive, seductive and hot as hell!

When people are preparing for the end of the world by zombie, it's bound not to happen.  D.T. made one hell of a twist on the apocalypse.  In M-Day we see the world thrown into chaos because it seems that a switch goes off in all the men.  Normal, sane and even sweet men are committing acts that would be considered disgusting and illegal in our world.  However, as well all know when the end comes all normal goes out the window and it is learn to adapt, or die.  Max has escaped a fate that many couldn't but fate just doesn't seem to be on her side as her recently turned husband seems to only be two steps away.  To top things off she stumbles upon something she thought extinct... uninfected men.  However, how safe is that ultimately?  This plot was nothing but non stop addiction and twisted in ways that blew my mind.  Let me just say Dyllin is not afraid to do what needs to be done to make a plot that will keep you hanging on.

Max was all kinds of awesome.  She was strong and determined to make it in this new world, to keep two steps ahead of Ricki.  Her and her mixed group of friends have survived by moving and never trusting anyone beyond themselves.  However, Max is the one we focus on and she would do anything to help her group, even if it is something that risks her own life.  She has helped the others live and move on in this male super solider dominated world and this is not easy.  Basically in order to make it you have to accept what you lose and kick ass when you are in trouble.  Max is everything I could have wanted and what she needed to be to not only survive but be someone that you would want backing you up in this world.

This novel did have a bit of room for romance... Okay there was room but it was not the sparkling center of the read.  However, there were times that I wished it were.  Zaiden (Zee) was not hard to be drawn to.  Even the possessive and dominant part of him called to me.  His match was met with Max and the pet name that he gave her was almost too much.  Everyone loves the playful banter  but what these two have is not sweet and innocent.  In fact a lot of the time it is primal and straight to the need.  This is not saying there aren't sweet moments but it's not meant to be the sweet and cute, it is meant to be honest and down to the bones.

If you are a fan of a fantastic adult read with some hot, sexy scenes, and handle the more gritty and realistic details of the world dominated by domineering men seriously do not miss the chance to pick this up.  I could fan girl over D.T. Dyllin day and night but, picking up any of her books will always leave you begging for more of the steam filled pages she writes.  M-Day was something different and is not for someone that couldn't handle the cold hard truth of how a world run by these men would be.  Not everything can be rainbows and butterflies when testosterone fueled men run the planet.

"If we were in a book right now, it definitely wouldn't be the romance genre; it would be some post-apocalyptic crap."  She crossed her arms over her chest.  "I wish we was a romance; I always hated those stupid dystopian books."

Hmmm...I think I may need to think about my attachments to inanimate objects like my new gun and the gas container from a few days ago.  Maybe it's an early sign of being a klepto?  Or maybe I was just overly attached to wanting to survive.  As if there was really such a thing.

When he stepped under the low-pressure spray, and the water ran over his perfectly sculpted caramel tinted skin     it was like my brain decided to take a lunch break and my hormones were left in charge.

I clutched at the door frame and dry heaved.  I hated Ricki, but love and hate are two side of the same coin.  I had once loved him, I'd married him after all... and seeing him right in front of me with not one, but two other women was something I'd never wanted to witness.
