Still reeling from the death of her father, Alexandria hopes to find both independence and reprieve from her grief by heading off to college. However, life throws her a serious curveball when she discovers that her roommate isn’t quite the person she imagined it would be.

Smoking, tattoos, and drag racing for fast cash are Elijah’s only interests. A harsh life has made him apathetic and indifferent, until Alexandria enters his life. When their paths cross, turmoil abounds.

An inevitable encounter, an undeniable attraction, and an unexpected chance at love—will it be enough?

I love Mary Ting and her NA writing as M. Clarke!! When I started with the Something Great series (which I am still dying for the next book) and now with My Clarity.  The writing flows so perfectly and is filled with witty and fun dialogue.  This book basically all I love about NA, with a little extra thrown in for good measure.  This book is like the picture that people all find their own piece of beauty within it.  Everyone takes it in differently but there is no doubt that it is a masterpiece from everyone that looks at it.

The plot was masterfully written, with heart and emotion packed into every chapter.  Everything about this read was well developed.  The characters all had depth and were easy to connect with on many different levels.  If you take the well developed characters and then add and perfectly timed placing and minor plot turns, you basically get everything you could dream of in a NA.

Alex is a sweet girl but she deals with more than she should.  She handles the crap life throws at her, but at the same time she accepts the junk that she should be tossing away.  Basically from start to finish Alex does a lot of growing and really finds herself.  There are certain things that she really sticks to her guns on, like smoking but her reasons for this are justified and right.  What I think I enjoyed most about Alex is her heart.  Be it with her friends, family or in the end Elijah, she has passion.  She is not afraid to say what she is thinking (most of the time) but this comes out the clearest when she feels restricted or like people don't see her for her inner strength.  Alex is not the embodiment of strength and perfection but she is not a push over and can see her own faults, even if she does attempt to justify them at times.

When Elijah makes his first appearance, it is far from love at first sight.  I could never deny the lust or draw between the two but they fight it every step of the way.  Although I am kind of over the entire bad boy always gets the good girl thing, I really feel that Elijah is the panty dropping guy many people drool over.  Honestly, I kind of felt this way a little sooner than expected.  His choices may not always be right and he doesn't even pretend to care about how people perceive him...until Alex. Though the circumstances surrounding the romance between these two is not a smooth road, or at times a sane one, it works.  It is so obvious that these two just work.  Everything from the attitude, the banter, the moments of emotion and the past that they have survived, just fits.  I loved that they were not thrust together but more pulled not by their own choice, to each other.

My Clarity is a captivating read, with a well written romance.  It is lighter on the NA side but is still a NA.  If you have not experienced the brilliance of M. Clarke now is a great time to start by picking up My Clarity...When it releases May 12!! I know that is one heck of a wait! So in the mean time you can pick up Something Great & Something Wonderful because they are highly addictive and should tide you over until you can get your hands on this one!! Pick this one up without hesitation if you are a fan of NA and want something that you will not regret picking up!!!

About the Author

M. Clarke aka Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.
